Regine Ndanga, Director of Development at Christ is the Answer International Fellowship (CIAIF), a Quaker congregation currently under the care of Buffalo Friends Meeting which serves a refugee population in the Buffalo area, oversees a back to school program. The program provides back-to-school supplies for refugee students in elementary and high schools.
This school year, due to the pandemic, students will not be attending in-person classes full time, but will alternate between in-person and online learning. While the school district will be providing laptop computers for students in 3rd grade and up, a need has been identified for students in kindergarten to 2nd grade. The school district does not have sufficient devices to provide for all these students.
CIAIF seeks to fill this gap by raising funds to provide computer tablets for 20 refugee families with young students to assist with their online learning. A durable, affordable tablet has been identified at a cost of $100 each.
Regine notes, "The majority of refugee families fall under the poverty line and live paycheck to paycheck. All donations will go directly to purchase tablets for the students. Any amount you give will be much appreciated, and it will assist families in dire need of relief aid. Please join me and bring a beacon of hope to the students."
Donations should be made payable to Christ is the Answer International Fellowship and mailed to c/o Regine Ndanga, 116 Fancher Avenue, Buffalo, New York 14223.
