The Tent of Abraham

  • Islamic Center 745 Heim Road Getzville, NY, 14068 United States (map)

Buffalo Meeting is a co-sponsor of “The Tent of Abraham,” an annual event presented by the Muslim Public Affairs Council of Western New York.

This year’s event will take place on Wednesday, March 12th at 5:30pm at the Islamic Center (Muslim Community Center) on 745 Heim Road in Amherst, New York.

Friends are invited to join an evening of friendship and conversation about our shared values as we “break the fast” together. Enjoy an ethnic dinner with your friends and neighbors, provided by MPAC-WNY, as a token of appreciation and friendship to the WNY religious and faith communities.

Theme for the Evening: “Shelter From the Storm--Protecting Our Immigrant Neighbors”

Before dinner, we will have panel discussion on the Challenges Faced by Refugees and Resettlement Agencies, Refugees as an Economic Boom for Buffalo as well as a “Know Your Rights” Session. There will be ample opportunity for your questions.

In keeping with MPAC's tradition of sharing the spirit of Ramadan, non-perishable food items, Gift Cards from Aldi and Price Rite as well as Cash donations will be collected for distribution to local food pantries and “The Refugee Partnership Crisis Response Fund” which benefits Catholic Charities of Buffalo, International Institute of Buffalo, Jewish Family Services of WNY, and Journey’s End Refugee Services.
