Our adult education series is held after the rise of meeting on the fourth Sunday of each month.
For the month of February the topic will be Introduction to NYYM Faith and Practice: The Book of Discipline. We wanted to set a context or orientation to our faith before reading/exploring NYYM Faith and Practice together. We’ll open with a brief history of the roots and historic strands of Quaker faith: universalist, conservative, orthodox, and evangelical, and names for the Divine. Then listen to each of us. Many of us are versed in other traditions--from Christian to anti-religion—and may have less practice speaking about our faith today. We will take some time to settle in and consider: What is my faith as a Quaker, and how is it forming in me today?
You may order, view, or download NYYM Faith and Practice here. We also recommend NEYM and Britain YM Faith and Practice.
